A child was hospitalized early Sunday after being found without vital signs in a burning home on Hamilton Mountain.
Hamilton Fire were called at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday to 25 Towercrest Dr., near Upper Wellington St. and the Lincoln Alexander Pkwy. in the city’s south end.
Our crews are working at a structure fire at 25 Towercrest Dive, unit 31. Fire is knocked down. One victim was rescued and tended to by firefighters. They’ve since been transported to hospital. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted. pic.twitter.com/nc6O7VI57u
The child — reportedly a nine-year-old boy — was found on the upper floor and was given CPR before being taking to McMaster Children’s Hospital in critical condition, the Hamilton Spectator reported, citing a Hamilton Paramedic Service superintendent. The Spectator also reported, via Ontario fire marshal investigator Mike Bird, that the boy’s condition had been upgraded to stable by Sunday afternoon.
The Hamilton Fire Department said on the social-media site X at 2:38 a.m. that the fire had been “knocked down” and the fire marshal’s office had been notified of the incident.
