City of Hamilton employee hit by car and killed while doing road work

A second city worker suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital

One City of Hamilton employee was killed and another injured when they were hit by a car while doing road work Friday morning.

Hamilton Police say the deadly collision unfolded on Golf Links Rd. — between Martindale Cr. and Legend Ct. — around 10:30 a.m.

“The workers were in the curb lane on Golf Links Rd. when they were struck by a white Infiniti sedan travelling westbound,” police said in a statement released Friday afternoon.

A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries while a 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 76-year-old driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators,” police said.

The investigating the collision and police are appealing to the public for assistance.
