And we will be together at 7 p.m. Sunday for an official vigil at Mel Lastman Square, 5100 Yonge St., which is in the heart of where the despicable act of mass murder occurred on April 23.
“The City of Toronto will host the #TorontoStrong Vigil this Sunday evening at Mel Lastman Square,” a news release said. “Members of the public are encouraged to attend and support all those who have been affected by Monday’s tragedy in Toronto.”
The release indicates “this city-hosted vigil, organized in collaboration with community groups Faith in the City and the Toronto Area Interfaith Council, will be an interfaith demonstration of Toronto’s diverse communities as well as a display of the city’s resiliency.”

Mayor John Tory said people can “contribute to the #TorontoStrong fund which will support victims and their families, first responders and those affected by the trauma, through organizations including Victim Services Toronto.”
Meanwhile, unofficial, spontaneous vigils continue to grow. Up in the Yonge and Sheppard, Yonge and Finch corridors, there are many tributes, posters, notes, flowers and pictures being left behind in memory of the ten people slain and the 14 who were wounded, some still fighting for their lives.
