FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE THEFT

Durham Regional Police say their investigation into a Facebook Marketplace theft has led them to believe there may be additional victims.

On Nov. 20, 2024, cops say someone who posted jewelry for sale on the social media platform met with who they believed was a potential buyer in the Hillcroft St. and Ritson Rd. S. area of Oshawa. Cops allege the “buyer” took the items and tried to flee on foot before the victim chased them down and got the jewelry back. Police allege the suspect then brandished a knife before fleeing.
