CRIME SCENE: Durham cops investigate discovery of two people dead in Whitby

Police are investigating after a woman, 62, and a man, 51, were found dead in a Whitby residence on Aug. 6 and two other people were taken to hospital.
Durham Regional Police responded around 10:45 a.m. to a home in the area of Fallingbrook St. and Taunton Rd. E. for a sudden death call.
Cops say the woman and man were dead at the scene and Whitby Fire Services conducted tests for environmental hazards but the area was deemed safe.
Post-mortem examinations were conducted and while the investigation remains ongoing, police said it’s believed there is no threat to public safety.

IMPAIRED CHARGES IN DEADLY CRASH
Police have charged a 24-year-old Hamilton man with impaired driving in a fatal collision last month that claimed the lives of a 10-year-old girl and her 30-year-old mother.
Several occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the July 6 incident on Trinity Church Rd.
Jesse Wood was arrested on Wednesday after surrendering to police. His bail has been opposed.
Wood is charged with four counts each of dangerous operation causing bodily harm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, over 80 mg/100ml – cause bodily harm and operation while impaired causing bodily harm, two counts each of dangerous operation causing death, criminal negligence causing death, over 80 mg/100ml – cause death, operation while impaired, and causing death and one count each of stunt driving – 40 km/h over in a zone less than 80 km/h and speeding – 155 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

TWO ARRESTED IN AJAX SHOOTING
Two men have been charged in a shooting in Ajax that left a male with serious injuries last month.
Durham Regional Police responded to an armed person call on July 6 around 10:20 p.m., in the area of Commercial Ave. and Hunt St.
Cops found one male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and he was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries.
James McDonald, 39, of Oshawa, and Logan Cameron, 35, of no fixed address, are charged with aggravated assault and disguise with intent.
McDonald is also charged with use firearm – commit indictable offence, possess firearm while prohibited, point a firearm, discharge firearm – intent to wound, and possess weapon dangerous to public peace.
Cameron also faces a charge of occupy motor vehicle with firearm.
SHOPPERS BREAK-IN CHARGES
Halton Regional Police have charged two Toronto men and are looking for one more suspect after an early morning commercial break and enter in Milton on Wednesday.
Cops say around 2:55 a.m. they responded to a break-in in progress at the Shoppers Drug Mart at 265 Main St. E.
Police said three male suspects fled upon police arrival with one suspect arrested at the scene. A second suspect attempted to flee in a waiting blue Honda CRV and was arrested a short distance away.
One suspect and one male police officer were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the arrests. Both were assessed by medical staff and released.
The Honda CRV has been confirmed as stolen from Toronto.
Omar Leo-Boussou, 31, and Tyrone Stewart, 47, are charged with break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000.
Stewart also faces flight from police and two counts of fail to comply with release order.
Police are attempting to identify and locate the third outstanding suspect and are requesting anyone with information, including security or dash cam video from the area of Main St. E. and Commercial St. between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.
