A 43-year-old man shot by police in Hamilton on Saturday afternoon has died in hospital.
In a release Sunday evening, the province’s Special Investigations Unit said Hamilton Police were called Saturday at 5 p.m. to an apartment building on Main St. W. “after a resident contacted police to report a male acting in a threatening manner.”

“On the 5th floor of the building, officers became involved in an interaction with a person of interest. Two officers discharged their firearms and the man was struck,” the SIU said.
He was taken to hospital and died at 12:47 a.m. on Sunday.
The SIU said “based on information that has come to light in the course of the investigation, it does not appear that the man discharged a firearm.”
A police officer was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries and released.
Six investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case while two subject officials and two witness officials have been designated, the SIU said.
An autopsy on the man, whose name was not released, will be performed in Toronto on Monday.

GUN FOUND IN STOLEN ROLLS ROYCE
A 16-year-old Montreal boy and two Toronto men have been arrested after Toronto cops allegedly found a gun in a stolen Rolls Royce.
On Nov. 3, officers in the area of Jane St. and Driftwood Ave. located a stolen Rolls Royce in a parking lot with three people. They allege a teen who was an occupant in the luxury car had a loaded firearm.
The boy was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, occupy motor vehicle with firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and fail to comply with release order. His name cannot be released due to his age.
Joshua Adebayo, 19, and Kingsley Anovue, 19, were both charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

STOPPED VEHICLE LEADS TO GUN SEIZURE
Toronto Police investigating a vehicle stopped with its hazard lights on arrested three men for allegedly having a gun and ammunition.
On Nov. 1, officers in the area of Jane St. and Finch Ave. noticed a vehicle stopped with its hazard lights on. They said three men were in the vehicle without a driver.
A loaded handgun with ammunition was found inside the vehicle, cops said.
Jaydin James, 20, Logan Alexander-Sonson, 19, and Tyler Sonson-Dariah, 18, all of Toronto, have been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, and occupy motor vehicle with firearm.
MIDTOWN TORONTO STABBING PROBED
Toronto Police are investigating a midtown stabbing early Monday.
Police were called at 12:23 a.m. to the area of Eglinton Ave. and Dufferin St. and located a man with stab wounds.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and there was no immediate information on suspects.

BOY, 16, FACES SLEW OF CHARGES
A 16-year-old boy faces fail to comply with release order charges after being in the Jane and Finch area.
On Nov. 2, Toronto Police were on patrol when they noticed a suspicious vehicle, which turned out to be stolen.
They say a male youth fled the vehicle with two other unknown males and was caught after a foot pursuit. Cops allege he was in possession of a gun.
The 16-year-old from Toronto is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, disguise with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of fail to comply with release order.
MAN STABBED DOWNTOWN
A man in his 40s was stabbed at a busy downtown Toronto intersection Monday.
The incident occurred in a park just after the noon hour in the area of Dundas and Bay Sts.
Toronto Police said the extent of the injuries are unknown .
