CRIME SCENE: Man sought for violent attempted carjacking in Toronto

A man is sought after an attempted carjacking and stabbing in North York on Tuesday.

Toronto Police say the victim was sitting in their vehicle near Yonge St. and Steeles Ave. W. when a lone male suspect opened the vehicle door and a struggle ensued just after 8 p.m.

It’s further reported the man produced a knife and stabbed the victim several times before fleeing the area on foot.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators have released an image of a suspect described as a white man, 5-foot-10, with a thin build. He’s considered armed and dangerous.

TORONTO PARENT SOUGHT

Toronto Police are requesting the public’s assistance locating a man wanted in a parental abduction investigation.

Kapil Sunak, 48, is wanted for abduction by parent/custody order after it’s alleged the accused travelled with his three-year-old son Valentino to Delhi, India, in July 2024 but failed to come back to Canada despite a court ordered return date of Aug. 8, 2024.

It’s further alleged the accused has kept custody of the child in contravention of the court order.

Kapil is described as 6-foot-3, with a heavy build, short brown hair and facial hair.

Valentino is described as standing four-feet-tall, about 45 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

ARSON IN MARKHAM

At least two people are sought for a multi-vehicle arson in Markham on Wednesday.

York Regional Police say there were reports of vehicles on fire in a residential driveway in the area of Coledale and Hollingham Rds. just after 5:30 a.m.

Markham Fire and Emergency Services Department attended and put out the fire.

There were no injuries or no damage was done to the residence, police say.

Cops say it was learned two suspects approached the driveway on foot, poured what appeared to be accelerant on the vehicles, then lit the vehicles on fire and fled the scene.

STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED

Numerous stolen vehicles worth more than $1.4 million were recovered in Caledon this week.

Earlier this month, Ontario Provincial Police say a stolen vehicle probe led investigators to a commercial property on Healey Rd.

On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed and multiple stolen vehicles were located.

The value of the recovered vehicles is approximately $1,435,000 and the investigation is ongoing.
