A second suspect has been arrested for a murder in Vaughan last summer.
York Regional Police said officers responded on Aug. 9, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m. to a residence in the area of Islington and Kiloran Aves. for a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, a man was found on his driveway suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said the victim, Jorge-Ivan Navas, was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced dead.
A second victim was also at the scene but only had minor injuries that were not from the gunshots, cops added.
Investigators learned that two suspects arrived in a black F-150 pickup truck that was stolen but has since been recovered by police.
On Wednesday, 31-year-old Brandon Cleland, of Markham, was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.
In late January, cops charged 33-year-old Bradley Johnston of Barrie with first degree murder.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety. The investigation remains ongoing, police said.

A 41-year-old Toronto man faces weapons and other charges after police said a bank in Cabbagetown was robbed late last month.

TORONTO COP HELPS OPP MAKE DRUG ARREST IN MUSKOKA
Information provided by a police officer in Toronto to provincial authorities led to the arrest of an alleged drug dealer in Muskoka.
Toronto Police said officers at 43 Division collaborated with the Ontario Provincial Police earlier this year to help arrest a man and two handguns.
In January, while investigating another man in Scarborough, an OPP officer contacted Toronto Police for help identifying his associates. The man had been suspected of selling narcotics in the Muskoka area.
Const. Amanda Frederick was assigned to the case and immediately recognized the man as someone she had met while deployed as a school liaison officer in 2009.
Police said Const. Frederick also served as a neighbourhood community officer and has extensive connections to the community.
On Feb. 26, cops said the associate was arrested in Simcoe County. Search warrants on his Scarborough residence and vehicle allegedly resulted in two illegal firearms being seized, including one with an automatic switch, as well as ammunition, drugs and cash.
“This is yet another great example of police collaboration and what it can yield,” 43 Division Acting Superintendent Ryan Forde said in a statement. “In this case, two illegal guns were seized.”
The 24-year-old accused faces several charges, including possession of a loaded firearm and drug possession.
