CRIME SCENE: Third man busted in B.C. for deadly Mississauga shooting

A third suspect in the deadly shooting of a 51-year-old man in Mississauga a couple of months ago has been arrested in British Columbia.
Peel Regional Police say the slain man, Harjeet Dhadda, was shot multiple times in a parking lot in the area of Tranmere Dr. and Telford Way – near Derry and Dixie Rds. – shortly before the noon-hour on May 14.
His killers are believed to have fled the scene in a stolen 2018 black Dodge Challenger, which was recovered shortly after the incident.
The victim, a Brampton resident, died later in hospital.
With help from the Delta Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Peel cops arrested a 22-year-old man – identified only as Shaheel – on July 15 in Surrey, B.C.
The accused, who resides in Delta, B.C., was returned to Ontario and charged with first-degree murder, police revealed Thursday.
Two other men – Aman Aman and Digvijay Digvijay – were also arrested in Delta, B.C., for Dhadda’s killing on May 28.
The two 21-year-olds from India, who Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington has previously reported are in Canada on international student visas, are also charged with first-degree murder.

MAN, 43, WANTED ON CANADA-WIDE WARRANT MAY BE IN GTA
A 43-year-old federal offender is now sought on a Canada-wide warrant for allegedly breaching his statutory release.
The OPP says the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is appealing to the public for help tracking down Cory Crockatt, who is known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area.
Crockatt is currently serving a two-year sentence for breaking-and-entering, being unlawfully in a dwelling, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, and three counts of failure to comply with an order and being unlawfully at large.
Crockatt is described as an Indigenous man, about 5-foot-7 and 169 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

MAN ALLEGEDLY CAUGHT NEAR WHITBY PLAYGROUND IN VIOLATION OF COURT ORDER
A 46-year-old man is accused of breaching his court-imposed prohibition order by visiting a Whitby park where kids play last month.
Durham Regional Police allege officers observed an unoccupied vehicle on June 28 in the main parking lot of Heydenshore Park, located on Whitby’s waterfront, that was parked “directly in front of the children’s playground area” and was associated to a man known to police.
“Through further investigation, officers confirmed that the male is bound by a court-imposed prohibition order, which prohibits him from attending parks, playgrounds and other locations where children under the age of 16 are reasonably expected to be present,” police said in a statement released Thursday. “Officers were able to confirm the male attended the park and in violation of this order.”
Christopher Mezzabotta was arrested on July 20.
The Whitby man is charged with multiple offences, including breach of a prohibition order.

MAN ACCUSED OF SHOOTING GUN AND THROWING KNIVES IN OSHAWA
A 24-year-old man is accused of firing a gun and throwing knives in a south Oshawa neighbourhood last weekend.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to reporting of an armed person call in the area of Oxford and Stone Sts. around 10:45 a.m. on July 19.
“Multiple 911 calls were received for a male suspect shooting a gun into the air and throwing knives,” police said in a statement released Thursday.
When officers arrived on scene, police said they arrested a suspect “without incident” and seized a firearm.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspect was acting erratically before firing a gun into the air multiple times, police claim. “He then approached a car, pointed the gun at the occupants and demanded they give him the vehicle. They were able to exit the vehicle, and no physical injuries were reported.”
Brandon James, of Ajax, is charged with numerous offences that include discharge a firearm reckless as to the life or safety of another person; attempted robbery with an offensive weapon; two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of an offence; weapons dangerous; two counts of pointing a firearm; possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon knowing no authority; and possession contrary to a prohibition order.

WOMAN, 47, ALLEGEDLY STOLE PLANTS IN AJAX
A 47-year-old woman is accused of stealing numerous potted plants from Ajax residents earlier this month.
Durham Regional Police say potted plants were stolen from multiple homes in the neighbourhoods surrounding Westney Rd. and Delaney Dr. between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. on July 12.
A suspect was subsequently identified and arrested “without incident” on Thursday.
“Multiple planters were recovered and efforts are being made to return them to the victims,” police said in a statement released Thursday.
Sandra Brown, of Ajax, is charged with seven counts of theft under $5000.
She was released on an undertaking.

AWOL CAMH PATIENT LOCATED AFTER HIS LATEST DISAPPEARANCE
A potentially dangerous CAMH patient has been found after he took off Monday for at least the seventh in the last seven years.
Toronto Police confirmed Thursday that Tesfaye Asefa, who was found not criminally responsible for two sex assaults in 2011, has been located.
The 46-year-old man had last been seen near Danforth and Jones Aves. was only on the run for a few days – this time.
But in the last seven years, he has repeatedly gone AWOL from the mental health facility and in some of those disappearances he was on the run for a couple of weeks at a time.
