CRIME SCENE: Toronto man, 46, facing firearm charges

A 46-year-old Toronto man who police say is prohibited from possessing a firearm was arrested and charged after a gun was seized from a city residence this week.

On Thursday, Toronto Police said officers with the Gun and Gang Task Force began an investigation in relation to an individual allegedly involved in the illegal possession of a firearm.

As a result of the investigation, officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for a residence in the Jane St. and Dundas St. W. area.

Police say officers executed the search warrant on Tuesday.

During the search, cops allege a loaded semi-automatic handgun was found in the residence and seized.

Junior Richardson was arrested and charged with possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, careless storage of a firearm, and five counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

MAN SOUGHT FOR ALLEGED SEX ASSAULT IN SCARBOROUGH

An elderly man is being sought following an alleged sexual assault at a Scarborough park last week.

Toronto Police said officers responded to a call on Sept. 13 for a sexual assault at Oakridge Park in the Danforth Ave. and Danforth Rd. area.

Police report that female victim was sitting on a park bench when a male suspect approached the victim and engaged her in a conversation.

According to police, the suspect then left and walked around the park before he returned to where the victim was sitting and sexually assaulted her. The suspect fled the area northbound on foot.

Cops say the victim and suspect do not know each other.

Police described the suspect as between 70 and 80 years old, 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5 with short hair, clean shaven, and spoke with an accent.

He was last seen wearing a blue zip-up hoodie with a large white logo “A” on the chest, a plaid shirt, beige shorts, red baseball hat, and black and white Nike sandals.

Investigators released images of the suspect.
