CRIME SCENE: Toronto man charged with 8 firearm and drug offences

A 32-year-old man faces eight charges following a firearm and drug trafficking investigation in North York last week.
Toronto Police said officers were conducting a community safety patrol in the Jane St. and Exbury Rd. area on Nov. 15 when it’s alleged the accused, along with an unknown female, were being investigated for a Cannabis Act Violation.

After a short struggle, police said the accused was taken into custody and the female fled on foot.
Cops allege a fully loaded firearm along with a large quantity of fentanyl and heroin were found in the suspect’s vehicle
Andrew Cox, of Toronto, has been charged with four firearm-related offences and four drug-related offences.

COPS MAKE ARRESTS IN CARJACKING AND HOME INVASION
Three people are facing multiple charges following a carjacking in Brampton and home invasion in Toronto.
Peel Regional Police said officers responded Nov. 1 to a call in the Sandalwood Pkwy. E. and Conestoga Dri. area where it’s alleged the victim was driving a white BMW X6 when a black sedan cut them off.
According to police, two suspects exited the black sedan and approached the victim, one armed with a handgun, and demanded the vehicle. The victim got out and one of the suspects got in and drove away.
Nearly two weeks later, on Nov. 13, cops said officers with Toronto Police responded to a home security alarm in the Bathurst St. and Brooke Ave. area, south of Hwy. 401, at about 4:20 a.m.
Police allege five suspects travelling in the stolen BMW X6 used a rock to smash the front glass door of the residence, but because it was reinforced with security film the suspects were unable to enter and fled in the stolen vehicle.
It’s also alleged, half an hour later, five suspects travelling in the stolen BMW X6 forced open the front door and entered a residence in the Bayview Ave. and York Mills Rd. area and took some personal items before fleeing.
On Monday shortly before 2 a.m., police said officers responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Wilson Ave. and Bathurst St. area involving the stolen BMW X6.
According to police, four search warrants were executed in Toronto, York and Durham a day later.
It’s further alleged that officers recovered a replica handgun and evidence related to the investigation.
Anestan Ganeshamoorthy, 31, of Pickering, faces 13 charges including two counts each of break and enter to commit, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime under and failing to comply with a recognizance.
Abhira Ponniah, 33, of Markham, and Khasim Mohammed, 19, both of Toronto, each face four counts of possession of property obtained by a crime.

MAN, 32, ACCUSED OF MARKHAM ROBBERY
A 32-year-old man faces three charges following a violent convenience store robbery in Markham.
York Regional Police said the suspect entered a convenience store in the area of Bur Oak and 16th Aves. shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday and assaulted the victim in an attempt to steal items.
Police said the suspect was unsuccessful and fled on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
Authorities said the suspect was eventually found.
De’Angelo Jerome Howe, of no fixed address, is accused of robbery, failing to comply with a probation order, and assaulting a peace officer.
At the time of the alleged offences, the accused was on several release orders as well as probation and was also being sought by police for unrelated offences.

MAN, 37, ACCUSED OF NEWMARKET ROBBERY
A 37-year-old Newmarket man is accused of robbing a convenience store on Thursday.
York Regional Police said the robbery occurred in Newmarket around 5:40 p.m. in the area of Water St. and Main St. S.
Police said the victim contacted them after a suspect allegedly entered the store saying his was armed and threatened the employee in order to steal items, although no weapons were seen.
Cop allege the suspect stole some items and fled the store, but he was arrested by responding officers. The victim was not injured.
Andrew Lewis Hollohan faces robbery and breach of probation charges.
Authorities said he was on two release orders as well as probation at the time of the incident.
