CRIME SCENE: Toronto man charged with luring, sex assault of two girls under 16

Two girls under the age of 16 were allegedly targeted by a man who lured and sexually assault them, according to Peel Regional Police.

Officers said Tuesday that between March 23-April 1, an assailant engaged the vicitms on social media.

Kanav Bhatia, 23, faces charges including four counts of luring a person under 16, two counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference, and three counts of making, transmitting and possession of child pornography.

Four face firearms charges

A call for trespassing on Sunday led to police laying firearms charges against four Brampton men.

Peel Regional Police said officers responded to a trespassing call at an apartment building in the  McMurchy Ave.-Charolais Blvd. area — just north of Hurontario St. and Steeles Ave. — and found four people in a stairwell of the building.

Officers made arrests after chasing the foursome and seizing a loaded firearm, according to the allegations.

Stefan Jones, 27, Dequan Hankey, 20, Judah Jones, 20, and Tyrone Wellington, 18, are charged with possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, and other offences.

Jones and Wellington were also both allegedly found to be in breach of previous court orders from a robbery investigation, according to police.

Police said the recovered firearm was found to be loaded with a magazine beyond legal capacity and believed to be partially constructed with 3D-printed components.

Woman accused in robbery probe

Toronto Police have made a second arrest in a robbery investigation.

U’nique Biggart, 24, of Toronto, faces five firearm-related charges after officers responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Weston Rd.-Sheppard Ave. area on Saturday around 4:45 p.m.

It’s alleged there was an attempted robbery and officers located a man allegedly in possession of a loaded handgun

Police alleged officers obtained evidence when executing a search warrant in the Jane St.-Sheppard Ave. area.

Meiki Biggart, 25, of Toronto, was previously charged with 10 firearm-related offences and one charge of possession of property obtained by crime.

Woman accused of child abduction

A 36-year-old woman from Eastern Ontario was arrested at Toronto’s Pearson Airport following a child-abduction investigation by OPP.
According to a news release, Lanark County OPP officers had begun the investigation on Monday after a man reported that his wife might be attempting to leave Canada with their six-year-old son.
Officers, with assistance from the Lanark County Crime Unit, Peel Regional Police and Canada Border Services Agency, allegedly located the woman and child at the airport.
Police said the woman was arrested and returned to Lanark County while the child was returned to the father.
To protect the identity of the victim, police did not release the name of the woman who is charged with  abduction without a custody order.
