CRIME SCENE: Toronto trio charged after 18 kg of drugs seized by York cops

A trio from Toronto have been charged with drug trafficking offences after a three-month probe by York Regional Police.

In a statement Monday, police said investigators “identified three suspects trafficking large quantities of drugs within York Region” in February. Officers executed two search warrants at residences in Toronto and seized more than 18 kilograms of “substances believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.”

Cops also said “a quantity of Canadian currency and a taser” were seized.

Olivia Waterman, 31, is charged with trafficking in controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.

Jason Hart, 42, is charged with two counts of trafficking in controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.

Zakariya Desai, 34, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

MAN FACES FIREARM CHARGES

A 25-year-old Brampton man has been hit with a slew of firearm and stolen property-related charges.

Peel Regional Police say on May 4, their officers “observed a stolen vehicle in the area of Sandalwood Parkway East and Airport Road” in Brampton.

“Investigators observed a male suspect, Charandeep Singh, exit the vehicle and placed him under arrest.”

Police allege “several items were located on the accused, including a .40 calibre Glock handgun, a 9mm Taurus Millennium handgun, ammunition, and extended magazines.”

Singh is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, two counts of occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a firearm, two counts of careless storage of firearm, tampering with serial number of firearm, possession of prohibited device of ammunition know its possession is unauthorized, possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

MAN CHARGED, 2 OTHERS SOUGHT AFTER BREAK-IN

A 48-year-old man has been charged, while two suspects remain outstanding following a February break-and-enter and sexual assault.

Toronto Police said officers responded on Feb. 11 to a break-and-enter in the Dufferin St.-St. Clair Ave. area.

Cops said the suspect entered the victim’s residence with two other unknown men and all three left the residence a short time after entering.

Police said one of the suspects returned alone a few minutes later, entered the victim’s residence and allegedly sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the area.

On Monday, police said Luis Alfonso Baltazar Perez, of no fixed address, was charged with break-and-enter dwelling-house with intent, break-and-enter commit and sexual assault.
