A four-month investigation of an alleged criminal group accused of trading stolen baby formula for drugs has resulted in charges against 11 people, say Peel Regional Police.
Police said Monday that the investigation — dubbed Project Bengal — was triggered by a community complaint from Mississauga’s Meadowvale area.
“The investigation revealed an organized crime group involved in both drug trafficking and targeting commercial retail businesses,” police alleged in a statement. “The group was allegedly stealing high-demand baby product, such as baby formula and vitamins, from local retailers and exchanging them for drugs.”

Police said 11 people face 33 charges.
