Driver seriously injured in head-on crash with snow plow in Richmond Hill

A man was seriously injured when his car collided head-on with a snow plow in Richmond Hill early Wednesday.

York Regional Police say the two-vehicle crash occurred in the area of Bayview Ave. and North Lake Rd. — south of Bloomington Rd. — around 1 a.m.

“When officers arrived, they observed a small white hatchback had collided head-on into a snow plow,” Const. Kevin Nebrija said in a statement.

He said the driver of the hatchback was initially taken to a local hospital.

“However, his condition deteriorated and (he) was transferred to a trauma centre where he remains in serious condition,” Nebrija said, adding the driver of the plow remained at the scene and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
