Toronto Fire Services rescued a woman from a house fire in north Etobicoke on Sunday afternoon, however, authorities said the woman was critically injured in the blaze.

The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while three officers were also taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, Toronto Police said.

“There were flames and smoke and as we were conducting a search we rescued a person from the residence,” said district fire chief Dan Vieira.
