The deceased couple’s other son, Alpha Henry, faces two first-degree murder charges in connection with the crime that left Colin and Veronica Henry dead.
The community in Etobicoke is now rallying to help Daniel Henry, who has been left reeling by the sudden and tragic loss.
“With the sudden loss of both his parents, Daniel’s world has been shattered. Not only has he lost the two most important people in his life, but his expenses have tripled,” wrote the organizers of the GoFundMe.
“He has been rendered homeless, drowning in his parents’ funeral costs, and reliving the trauma of the situation day after day.”
As of Monday after, the group had collected nearly $59,000 of their $100,000 goal to help the aspiring commercial pilot and University of Waterloo graduate meet day-to-day expenses and to help pay for his parents’ funeral.

“We hope to relieve some of Daniel’s stress and give him the capacity to move forward in this painstaking journey ahead,” the organizers stated.
Colin Henry, 68, and Veronica Henry, 67, were found slain in their apartment on Bergamot Ave. near Islington Ave. Sept. 22.
Hours after the stabbings, residents in the building spoke about how they heard a woman pounding on several doors on the fourth floor pleading for help at around 1:43 a.m.
“Somebody was in the hall and woke me up. ‘Help me! Help me! Somebody help me,” Ron Howarth told the Sun Sept. 22. “It was bang, bang, bang on the door.”
Next-door neigbhour Tonna told the Sun just steps away from where the stabbings happened: “I thought it was some sort of fire incident. I didn’t know it was a stabbing. When I found out, I was really shaken.”

“I didn’t know them all too well but they seemed like really nice people. I was reading that night. I did hear a few crashes but I didn’t think it was something that could have led to something as fatal as what happened,” the neighbour added.
Veronica worked for 20 years as an early childhood educator.
Colin worked for Purolator until he retired in 2019.
A visitation and celebration of life for the slain couple are set for the morning of Friday, Oct. 14, at the Kingsview Village Seventh-day Adventist Church in Etobicoke.
“The tragedy of losing his parents so soon cannot be reversed,” the GoFundMe page reads. “But their legacy will live on in their community’s memories and in their beloved son.”
