The owner of a hair salon in the Annex is accused of sexually assaulting a boy twice when he visited the business for a haircut nearly two years ago and again this month.
Toronto Police say the first incident allegedly occurred at Alex Cuts on Bloor St. W. – west of Spadina Rd. – in September 2023.
“A male youth attended the salon for a haircut,” police said in a statement released Friday, explaining the hairdresser allegedly sexually assaulted boy while he was there.
Police said the same boy returned to the salon for a haircut on July 3 and was allegedly sexually assaulted again by the same hairdresser.
Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and arrested him on Thursday.
Alexander Ghorbani, 63, of Toronto, is charged with two counts of sexual assault.
He was scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.
Investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims, so they have released an image of the accused.
