Hamilton man, 72, faces child luring charges

A 72-year-old Hamilton man faces child luring charges after allegedly communicating online with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
Durham Regional Police say Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) officers concluded an investigation and arrested the accused on Tuesday.
The man allegedly sent “sexually explicit messages and images to the girl, asking her to send him photos,” Const. Emily Mitchell said in a statement released Wednesday.
She said a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at two residences in Hamilton and the accused was taken into custody without incident.
James Daw, 72, is charged with luring a person under 16 to facilitate the offence of sexual assault; luring a person under 16 to facilitate the offence of sexual Interference; luring a person under 16 to facilitate the offence of exposure; luring a person under 18 to facilitate the offence of making child pornography and make sexually explicit material available to a person under 18 for the purpose of making child pornography.
Investigators allege the man communicated on Chat IW with the username “JuniorJohnson.”

Police have released a photo of the accused out of concern for the possibility of other alleged victims.
