A 23-year-old Hamilton man facing an attempted murder charge was released from custody in error after making a court appearance in Burlington.
Halton Regional Police said they are turning to the public to help locate Nana-Yaw Asante, who is accused by Ontario Provincial Police of multiple offences including attempted murder with a firearm.
A warrant is being sought by police in Halton for the offence of unlawfully at large after cops said Asante attended a Burlington court on Thursday for an unrelated matter. He was subsequently released from custody in error, cops said.
Asante is described as Black, 5-foot-5 and 145 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
If Asante is seen in public, police warn not to approach him and call 911 instead.
Cops say they are encouraging him to retain a lawyer and contact Halton Regional Police.
