Hamilton man accused of threatening Jewish community

He was originally charged in October and had new charges added Thursday

A 32-year-old Hamilton man faces five charges after allegedly posting several threatening online posts directed towards the Jewish community.

Cops say on Sept. 27, 2024 they learned about the posts and the Hate Crime Unit began investigating.

Harley Mitchell was charged with utter threats to cause death and fail to comply probation last October.

After consulting with the attorney general, the additional charges of advocating genocide, wilful promotion of hatred and wilful promotion of antisemitism were also laid against Mitchell on Thursday.

The original charges also remain.
