Impaired drivers busted with open booze: Aurora OPP

Police credited tipsters with leading to the charges.

Aurora OPP are getting the drunks off the roads — and finding open liquor in vehicles while they do it.

“Thanks again to multiple 911 callers who reported an erratic driver on Hwy. 400 southbound at Teston Rd in King. Officers arrested and charged their third impaired driver of the day,” police tweeted Sunday evening along with a picture of a cooler full of empty beer cans.

They say an unnamed 56-year-old man from North York was charged with impaired driving.

In another post a few hours earlier, police wrote, “Thanks to a 911 call from a citizen on #Hwy400 NB, an impaired driver was located.”

“At 6:11 a.m. Sunday, Aurora OPP arrested and charged a 26-year-old man from Bradford with impaired driving, careless driving and liquor readily available.

With that tweet OPP shared images of an empty bottle of Captain Morgan, a half-full bottle of Captain Morgan, and a bottle of tequila.

The driver was given a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day impound.
