Infant among three dead in suspected Richmond Hill intimate partner violence

The deaths of three people — including an infant — found dead in a Richmond Hill home last week was likely the result of intimate partner violence, police say.

York Regional Police officers responded to a call for a welfare check at a house on MacKay Dr., in the Yonge St. and Carville Rd. area, on Feb. 1 and found three people dead inside.

The homicide unit on Thursday identified the three as a 41-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman and a five-month-old child.

According to neighbours, a family of three – who moved in a few months ago – were living in the basement.

At the request of the families, police say they will not release their names.

Post-mortem examinations have been completed but investigators also said they will not be releasing the causes of death at this time.
