Dude, where’s my car?
Oh wait, it’s still here.
One Hamilton driver found out the hard way that delivery is likely the best way to go for a late-night snack on the weekend. That and justice never rests.
Hamilton Police said a hungry officer was lined up for a post-shift meal Monday at about 2:30 a.m. when the drive-thru line at a local fast-food restaurant had ground to a halt.
“While waiting patiently for his turn to grab a much-needed bite after a long evening of duty, the officer noticed the car ahead of him wasn’t moving,” police said in a statement. “With hunger mounting and curiosity piqued, he got out to investigate.”
Cops said the officer found the driver passed out behind the wheel of their vehicle, adding they were “unresponsive and showing no signs of waking up.
“After several attempts to rouse the individual — and a strong scent of alcohol in the air — the officer determined the driver was impaired,” police alleged. “Once the driver finally woke up, they displayed clear signs of intoxication.”
Hamilton cops said the driver was arrested and taken for a breathalyzer test, which registered readings of 101 mg and 96 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. They were later released on an undertaking.
“Hamilton Police would like to remind the public that impaired is impaired — whether you’re cruising down the highway or coasting toward a combo meal,” the statement said. “Plan ahead, arrange a safe ride and keep our roads safe.”
