Live chickens on Highway 401 after truck crash

Live chickens were being collected on Highway 401 in Milton after a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said a truck carrying live chickens was involved in a crash with a sedan in the eastbound lanes west of James Snow Parkway.

The transport truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Hwy. 401 westbound HOV, left and middles lanes are closed as well as eastbound HOV and left lane, west of James Snow Pkwy.

Police say traffic is very heavy in the area and urge drivers to take alternate routes.

The lane closures are expected to last until about noon for the clean up and truck removal.

OPP say the Ministry of Transportation and animal welfare workers are at the scene.
