“This hotel is an offering to the London market that we don’t currently have,” said Martha Leach, manager of 100 Kellogg Lane. “It’s a four-plus-star hotel. So that means there will be valet and just a level of luxury that currently our hotels are not offering. It’s pretty exciting for the city.”

Bookings are available as of June with anticipation of an earlier open, she said.

Prices range from $396 for one night in the Classic room with two queen beds to $4,500 for the Rock Star suite with a living room area, a bar with exclusive music-inspired touches and high-end amenities such as a private kitchenette.

Other details about the new Hard Rock Hotel – the company’s first in Canada – were revealed Tuesday.

A speakeasy called 1913 will be one of the three bars in the hotel that will open with 164 rooms. The speakeasy, modelled after illegal bars and nightclubs in the United States during Prohibition in the 1920s and early 1930s, is named after the year the Kellogg factory opened.

Following the cereal plant’s closing in 2014, a company called the Cribbage Group bought the building that fronts onto Dundas Street in 2016 and began creating what is billed as Canada’s largest entertainment complex.

Archie Leach, who died in September 2024, and his daughter Martha developed the sprawling complex that includes a family entertainment centre, an indoor sport, dining and lounge venue, a craft brewery, cocktail lounge, the Children’s Museum and office space.

It also will have a fitness centre and an indoor/outdoor pool with an underwater sound system.

Guests will see a 10-metre (32-foot) sculptural metallic guitar, crafted in London, before entering the hotel lobby that has elements of the historic Kellogg brick building with new stone tile, skylights and displays of significant musical memorabilia tied to London’s history and Canada’s contribution to the world music scene.

Construction of the hotel began in 2021, but supply chain and labour issues lingered after the pandemic and slowed the project. The hotel will more than double in size when 200 rooms are added in the next phase of construction, Leach said.

“Everyone is so excited,” she said. “We initially bought this facility in November 2016 so we really feel like this is the last piece of the puzzle for this current site at Kellogg’s.”
