Man, 18, two youths charged, guns recovered following York Region carjacking

An 18-year-old man and two male youths have been charged following a carjacking and attempted carjacking north of Toronto.
York Regional Police say they received a report of an attempted carjacking just before midnight on Aug. 5 in the area of Mistysugar Tr. and Thornhill Woods Dr. in Vaughan.

Cops say a male pointed a gun at a woman and tried to take her car. He then took off when approached by the victim’s husband. The vehicle was not taken and there were no injuries.
Less than an hour later, at 12:30 a.m., police were called to a carjacking in the area of Fairburn Dr. and Highway 7 E. in Markham.
The victim called to say his Mercedes was taken at gunpoint by a male. Air2, York Regional Police’s Air Support Unit helicopter, located the suspects and officers on the ground were able to arrest one of them and recover the Mercedes.
A loaded handgun was later located near the scene, cops added.
On Tuesday, following an investigation, police say a second suspect in a stolen Jaguar Pace was located in Toronto. The driver and a passenger were arrested in a hardware store parking lot.
When the driver exited the vehicle, a firearm fell from his lap, cops added.
The man and one male youth, from Toronto, have been charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, two counts of disguise with intent, possession of a loaded restricted firearm, dangerous operation and flight from police.
A second male youth, from Toronto, is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The 18-year-old accused was already on bail for unrelated charges and on a firearms prohibition at the time of these offences. His name was not released.
