“A Honda CRV, traveling southbound, lost control and veered into the path of a northbound tractor-trailer, resulting in a head-on collision,” Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss said in a statement released Saturday. “The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles.”

She said the man driving the Honda CRV was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious, life-altering injuries.

The 45-year-old man behind the wheel of the truck was not injured.
