Man, 24, killed in motorcycle crash in south Etobicoke

A motorcyclist was killed when he rear-ended a pickup truck on a busy highway in south Etobicoke Friday evening.
Toronto Police say the deadly crash unfolded on the Gardiner Expressway around 7:40 p.m.
“A 24-year-old male was operating a grey Yamaha motorcycle on the eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway at Islington Ave.,” Det.-Const. Hussain Kothari, of Traffic Services, said in a statement released Saturday.
Kothari explained the motorcycle struck the rear of a blue Ford F150 pickup truck driven by a 52-year-old woman, which was also travelling eastbound.
“The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene,” Kothari said, adding the woman driving the pickup, who remained at the scene, was uninjured.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
