Man, 33, arrested in Hamilton drug bust

Cops executed search warrants at two locations and allegedly seized a stash of drugs, cash and a loaded handgun

A 33-year-old man faces charges after a stash of drugs, cash and a loaded handgun were allegedly seized last week in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police say the accused was arrested on Thursday following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by officers in their Major Drugs and Gangs Unit.

“Detectives with the MDGU and Division 2 HEAT Unit located and arrested the suspect near Main St. E. and Wellington St. S.,” police said in a statement released Saturday, adding “the arrest was made without incident with support from the Emergency Response Unit.”

Following the arrest, police said search warrants were executed at two residences – one located near Gage Ave. N. and Barton St. E., the other near Main St. E. and Spring St.

The searches allegedly resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm handgun, approximately 24 grams of cocaine, approximately 680 grams of fentanyl, approximately 19 grams of crystal methamphetamine, hundreds of hydromorphone pills, and more than $7,000 in cash.

As a result, Jesse Schnarr, of Hamilton, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and hydromorphone; possession of a prohibited, loaded firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm; possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000; and possession of a firearm contrary to a court order.
