Man, 50, identified as victim of deadly Etobicoke motel stabbing

A 50-year-old man has now been identified as the victim of a deadly weekend stabbing in an Etobicoke motel room.

Toronto Police say the stabbing occurred in the area of The Queensway and Royal York Rd. around 9:20 a.m. on Sunday.

It is alleged that the victim – now identified as Eligio Martinez Gomez, of Toronto – was in a motel room with another man when he was stabbed.

The gravely injured Gomez was rushed to a trauma centre where he was later pronounced dead.

Responding officers located a suspect at the scene and took him into custody.

Tanas Shmagranovski, 57, of no fixed address, is charged with second-degree murder.
