Man charged with arson in Scarborough fire that left baby dead

A 39-year-old Toronto man has been charged with arson in a house fire Saturday in Scarborough that left an eight-month-old baby girl dead.
Toronto Police said officers responded at 11:14 a.m. to a fire at a residence in the Finch Ave.-Brimley Rd. area.
Police said there was a fire in the basement and the baby was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
A four-year-old boy was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the accused was transported to a hospital to be treated for self-inflicted injuries.
Julian De Souza is charged with arson — disregard for human life.
