Man faces 11 charges after 2 days of alleged assaults, a robbery and carjacking in Toronto

Toronto Police have charged a 33-year-old man with a variety of charges in connection with a carjacking, a retail robbery and two assaults over the course of two days.

Cops say last Friday, around 8:49 a.m., they responded to an assault call in the Lawrence Ave. East and Markham Road area.

It’s alleged that male suspect approached the front of a store, repeatedly kicked the door, smashing three windows and bending the gate before approaching a victim sitting in their vehicle and making a demand for the keys.

It’s further alleged the suspect assaulted the victim by dragging them out of the vehicle, causing minor injuries but fled the area empty-handed.

Cops then allege around 12:37 p.m., a male suspect entered a store in the Eglinton Avenue East and Kennedy Road area and bought some cigarettes and returned five minutes later, got into a dispute and then assaulted the employee and took a quantity of cash from the register before fleeing.

Then on Saturday, around 5:26 a.m., in the Victoria Park Avenue and Lawrence Ave. East area, police say a person was walking toward their vehicle when a male suspect confronted the victim and forcefully removed the key from their hand and fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.

Cops say they located the stolen vehicle in the Victoria Park Ave. and St. Clair Ave. East area and the driver who refused to provide his name.

Police say further investigation confirmed the driver’s alleged involvement in the above incidents and he was taken into custody.

Dustin Legault-Knapp, 33, of no fixed address, faces four counts of fail to comply with probation, two counts of mischief, one count each of robbery, assault with intent to steal, theft of motor vehicle, obstruct peace officer and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
