York Regional Police say they have located and charged a 33-year-old man from King Township wanted for attempted murder on New Year’s Day.
Police say, on Jan. 1 at around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at a motel in the area of Hwy. 11 and Canal Rd. in King Township and discovered a 24-year-old male victim with gunshot injuries, but no suspect.
Investigators issued an arrest warrant on Jan. 3 for Andrew Joseph Pitre. On Wednesday, police located him at a Georgina parking lot and he was arrested without incident.
At the time of the shooting, police say Pitre was wanted on a bench warrant for failing to attend court for previous unrelated charges.
Among his 11 new charges are attempted murder, aggravated assault, six weapon-related charges, two drug-related charges and one for failing to attend court.
