Man faces murder, arson charges after roommate dies in Brampton house fire

A man is facing murder and arson charges following a Brampton house fire that killed his elderly roommate earlier this week.

On Sunday, at approximately 1:33 p.m., Peel Regional Police and Brampton Fire were called to a basement fire at a residential address on Pennyroyal Cres., near Bovaird Dr. and Torbram Rd.

Firefighters found an elderly man within a unit who was suffering from obvious signs of trauma.

Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures, but the victim — 80-year-old Anthony Ambrose — died of his injuries a short time later.

The victim’s roommate, 26-year-old Julius Adigun, has been charged with second-degree murder and arson endangering life.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
