Upon arrival, officers found a man and woman shot in a laneway in between a row of townhouses and a parkette.
The man, identified Saturday by police as Sirac Tesfay, 23, of Toronto, was pronounced dead at the scene after CPR was performed and the woman, 27, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to police, witnesses reported seeing a smaller light-coloured, possibly grey or silver, 4 door sedan with dark tinted windows seen leaving the area in a northbound direction on Yonge Street at a high rate of speed.
Tesfay is believed to be the city’s fourth murder victim of the year.
Investigators are requesting residents, business owners, or anyone who was in the area, to check their security cameras or dash-cams for footage that may assist in this investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this shooting is urged to call the Homicide unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
