According to Toronto Police, officers responded to a shooting just after midnight on Aug. 27 in the area of Sheppard Ave. and Weston Rd. When cops arrived, they found a victim who had been shot inside a business.
The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries. However, he died of his injuries on Labour Day.
Police identified the victim as Arslan Ahmad, a 21-year-old university student from Brampton.
Investigators say he was in the area visiting a friend.
“It is unbelievably upsetting. It was so dangerous for so many,” said Det. Sgt. Brandon Price said in an update to the city’s 58th homicide of the year on Saturday.
“This was a ridiculously cowardly act.”
Investigators released a video that showed a vehicle and two suspects from that vehicle.
