A man was gunned down in broad daylight in an industrial area of Mississauga on Wednesday.
Peel Regional Police say officers responded to a shooting in the area of Tranmere Rd. and Telford Way – near Derry Rd. E. and Dixie Rd. – shortly before the noon hour.
One person was shot, police said in a post on X.
The critically injured victim was rushed to hospital, but police confirmed soon after that the person had been pronounced dead.
No further details about the shooting or the victim were immediately available.
But some media outlets are reporting the victim is a man in his 40s.
A section of Telford Way, north of Derry Rd., and a portion of the Derry-Telford Business Centre’s parking lot were cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape following the shooting.
Numerous evidence markers could also be seen near a pickup truck in the parking lot.
A source told the Toronto Sun the victim was outside of his pickup truck when a car rolled up and the shooter opened fire.
The investigation into the targetted shooting, which police described as an isolated incident, is ongoing.
