Man killed in west-end Toronto shooting: 'Very large scene'

A “brazen” shooting early Tuesday in Toronto’s west end has left a man dead.
Toronto Police were called to residential Osler St., near St. Clair Ave. and Keele St. just after 5 a.m. for reports of a shooting.

A man was found on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed by officers and medics but he died at the scene.
“We do recognize that a shooting of this nature if very alarming for the community,” Duty Senior Officer Phil Sinclair said.
Police “do not have any confirmed suspect information at this time,” he noted, adding the victim is “possibly” in his 30s.
Sinclair also added it was too early to say how many shots were fired but said “evidence is spread out throughout the street.”
“It’s a very large scene.”
Sinclair called the shooting “brazen” considering Toronto Police’s 11 Division headquarters is located nearby. He also said early stages appear to show it was “targeted.”
This is the city’s 23rd homicide of the year.
