A man left fighting for his life after being stabbed in downtown Oshawa on Tuesday morning is now expected to survive.
But cops are still searching for his assailant.
Durham Regional Police say officers responded to the stabbing in the area of Simcoe St. S. and John St. W. – south of King St. E. – around 11 a.m.
“A fight was reported outside of a local business near Memorial Park,” Const. Nicholas Gluckstein said in a statement Wednesday.
“Officers located a male who had been stabbed,” he said. “Life-saving measures were performed and the victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.”
The crime scene was shut down for several hours while investigators searched for suspects and witnesses.
However, no arrests have been made and no suspect description has been released.
“The victim’s status has since been upgraded to stable with serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” Gluckstein said.
