Durham Regional Police say the robbery occurred at an Esso station on Brock St. N. – south of Rossland Rd. – around 7:40 a.m. after a man walked inside to “buy smoking paraphernalia.”
“When asked for identification by an employee, the suspect presented fake ID,” Const. Nicholas Gluckstein said Wednesday. “The employee refused to sell any smoking products to the suspect, resulting in the suspect assaulting the employee and stealing several items.”
He said the bandit fled the area before officers arrived and the victim suffered minor injuries.
Police are looking for a man who is described as Black, approximately 19 years old, 5-foot-7, with a slim build. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
Anyone with information about this incident, or the identity of the robber, is asked to call the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5355., or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
