Nine-year-old cyclist dies after colliding with school bus west of Ottawa

A nine-year-old boy died Wednesday after colliding with a school bus in Almonte.
OPP say they were called to Paterson Street in Almonte at about 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon when a student at R. Tait Mackenzie Public School riding a bicycle and was involved in the collision near another school.

Police said witnesses conducted life-saving measures at the scene. The boy was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation by the Lanark County OPP is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team, said police.
