North York bakery with previous infractions shut down by health inspectors

A bakery that was hit with nearly 20 infractions earlier this year has been shut down by Toronto health inspectors.
New King of Kings Bakery, which received 18 infractions in March but remained open after receiving a conditional pass, is closed until further notice.
The bakery, which offers fresh baked goods and boasts a hot table with everything from turkey to fried fish, had previously passed with no or minor infractions prior to March’s inspection.
However, New King of Kings, located at 248 Eddystone Ave. in North York, was forced to shut down after health inspectors issued it a summons and health hazard order on Friday, according to Toronto Public Health.
The first of two new crucial violations pertained to the food premises being maintained in a manner permitting a health hazard, specifically insects.
The other crucial infraction was that the establishment was “maintained in a manner permitting adverse effect on food,” but the bakery received a “notice to comply” action for the issue.

The bakery received five additional infractions — four significant and one minor.
The four significant violations were that it failed to protect against the breeding of pests, used food equipment not of readily cleanable form, did not maintain hand-washing stations with soap and paper towels and did not provide an adequate number of hand-washing stations.
The one minor infraction was that its equipment surfaces were not sanitized as necessary.
