Off-duty cop charged with impaired driving after Oakville crash

A York Regional Police officer who was off-duty at the time was charged by Halton Regional Police with impaired driving following a crash in Oakville.

Halton cops were called shortly after midnight on Sunday for reports of a two-vehicle crash in the Dundas St. W-Hospital Gate area.

Det.-Const. Ronald Tisdelle was charged with operation while impaired — blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

There were no injuries.

Tisdelle, who has been a member of York Regional Police since 2018 and was most recently assigned to the criminal investigations bureau, was suspended with pay, York Regional Police said.

“This is very disappointing,” Chief Jim MacSween said in a news release. “York Regional Police takes a firm stance against impaired driving. The alleged actions of this officer do not reflect the values of our organization or the professionalism demonstrated by our members each and every day.”
