Man, 30, critically wounded in daylight North York shooting

A 30-year-old man was shot just after noon Thursday in an underground parking lot in North York.
Toronto Police say the shooting occurred the area of Yonge St. and Bogert Ave, just south of Sheppard Ave.

“Officers and emergency medical services attended and they tried to establish life-saving efforts,” Duty Insp. Jeff Bassingthwaite told reporters at the scene Thursday afternoon.
“They were able to get the victim loaded onto an ambulance and did an emergency run to a local trauma centre,” he said, explaining the man’s injuries were life-threatening.
Police shut down Bogert Ave. at Beecroft Rd. while officers gathered evidence – including video footage – and looked for witnesses.
There was no immediate word on any suspects and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
An area resident told CP24 he was shaken and “a little concerned” by the news of the mid-day shooting near such a major intersection but its become all too familiar news.
“This is nothing out of the ordinary around here these days,” the area resident said. “I’m just standing around, finding out what’s going on like everybody else.”
