Ontario Provincial Police are following tips and have seen videos of a Mercedes driver reportedly going near 250 km/h on the QEW. As of Friday afternoon, OPP said they have yet to make an arrest or lay any charges.
The 24-second clip was reposted on Tuesday around 12:25 p.m on social-media site X by the user account @Lifewithsondruen and shows what appears to be excessive speeding from the driver’s point of view — viewers can see the speedometer hit 242 km/h — as they dangerously weave in and out of traffic including using the highway shoulder.
At one point, signs indicating Trafalgar Rd. and then Royal Windsor Dr., both in Oakville, are spotted in the upper right corner.
“A maniac drives 250 km/h through traffic like a video game in a Mercedes E63S,” writes @lifewitsonduren as a caption on the video.

“This driver needs to have his license permanently revoked IMMEDIATELY FOR LIFE! This psychopath could’ve easily killed many innocent families and children.”
QEW highway lights can seen overhead as well as vehicle lights, so the incident appears to have happened in the evening or early morning.
“We have seen several versions of this video,” said Kerry Schmidt of the OPP Highway Safety Division in response to a query from the Sun on Friday.
“No reports of any calls at the time of the event. We are following up on tips.”
This story comes after a motorcyclist was believed to be speeding up to 300 km/h on Hwy. 404 on July 4 around 10:30 a.m. as documented by the York Regional Police Air Support Unit.
A 37-year-old Richmond Hill man was subsequently charged with six offences including speeding, dangerous operation and stunt driving.
