Pawzy.co is a new pet platform offering advice and guidance to pet parents in Canada. If you’re thinking of finding a furry dog friend, Pawzy can show you their breed matcher tool, 100 detailed dog breed care guides, and connections to over 400 registered breeder and adoption agencies — all in one place. That’s a first in this country.
Down the road, Pawzy will add vet information and pet insurance connections.
It’s one-stop shopping for Rex and Fido.
Pawzy is the brainchild of Toronto tech and marketing pro Kerri-Lynn McAllister, a dog lover who saw an obvious need for the platform.
“I was surprised by the lack of sophisticated online resources,” says McAllister, who is a graduate of the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

“We’re experiencing a major cultural and demographic shift, in which pets are replacing kids for a lot of Canadians.”
McAllister intends Pawzy to be the go-to spot for pet parents. “They deserve to experience trust, confidence and transparency when looking for information and services.”
A respected mentor, McAllister has pledged 1% of Pawzy’s equity to animal charities and 5% of her personal equity holding to women in tech initiatives through the Upside Foundation.
Her advisory team of North American pet care, tech and business leaders includes Walt Ingwersen, past president of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, and Emma Harris, former CEO at Healthy Pets.
Pawzy, meanwhile, has just released a new survey with some interesting findings. Here are a few highlights:

Nearly all Canadians with pets — 95% — consider those pets to be part of the family.
(In Atlantic Canada, 100% of those surveyed said their pets were part of the family. Awwww!)
About half (48%) of Canadians treat their pets like children.
Canadians spend more than $8 billion on pets annually.
More than half of Canadian households (57%) have pets.
Alberta is the leading pet-lovers province, with 63% of households having pets.
While cat lovers and dog lovers are about equal among pet owners, only 11% of all households have both a cat and a dog.
Pawzy includes the information that it’s been scientifically proven you get a better night’s sleep if you sleep next to a dog rather than another person.
50% of all Canadians — that’d be women — already knew that.
