Cops in Peel Region are seeking help locating the operator of an electric dirt bike who injured a police officer attempting to stop him.
Just after 3:20 p.m. on July 1, officers in Mississauga attempted to pull over the bike, which was driving erratically near Eglinton Ave. and Erin Mills Pkwy.
The bike, police say, was observed popping wheelies and performing other dangerous manoeuvres.
In his attempt to evade capture, the operator collided with a marked police cruiser, as well as a uniformed Peel Regional Police officer, before fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed through a crowded roadway.
The officer was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The driver is a male between 15 and 20 years old who was wearing a black helmet, black sweater and black pants.
The bike is believed to be a dark, possibly grey, electric dirt bike.
Anybody with information is asked to call Peel police at 905-453-3311, Ext. 3707, or Crime Stoppers.
