Peel cops seize five loaded guns and make nine arrests in one day

Cops kicked off the Victoria Day long weekend by seizing five loaded firearms across the GTA and laying numerous gun and drug-related charges.
Peel Regional Police say officers from the Strategic and Tactical Enforcement Policing team executed a search warrant at a Toronto residence around 6:30 a.m. last Friday and allegedly seized two loaded handguns, ammunition, and about 3.5 kilograms of illegal drugs – including methamphetamines, cocaine and fentanyl – valued at $50,000.
Aaron Mirabal Hurtado, 20, of Toronto, is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; and two counts each of unauthorized possession of a firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and possession of a loaded firearm.
At 5:15 p.m. last Friday, police investigated a vehicle in the area of Confederation Pkwy. and Square One Dr. in Mississauga and allegedly seized a loaded firearm with ammunition.
Two suspects were arrested.
Kurton Robertson, 32, of Toronto, is charged with six firearm-related charges and two counts of trafficking a controlled substance. Rishi Gunvantrai Bhatt, 48, of no fixed address, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Later that same day, around 9:25 p.m., police investigated a vehicle in the area of Hurontario St. and Hwy. 403 in Mississauga and allegedly seized a loaded firearm with ammunition and illicit drugs.
Jaheim Kirnon, 22, of Brampton, is charged with five firearm-related offences and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Finally, just before midnight that same day, police investigated a vehicle in the area of Kennedy Rd. and Stafford Dr. in Brampton and a loaded firearm with ammunition was allegedly seized.
Patrick Thiruchelvam, 32, of Cambridge; Jayden Singh, 19, of Brampton; Alicia Kishor, 34, of Cambridge; Emily Kishor, 18, of Toronto; and Harril Sahana, 18, of Toronto, are all charged with six firearm-related offences and one count of having care and control of a motor vehicle with cannabis readily available.

“In just one day, our STEP team successfully removed five illegal handguns from our community,” Chief Nishan Duraiappa said in a statement released Thursday. “This is a powerful demonstration of both the professionalism of the officers involved and the significant risks they face every day to keep our neighbourhoods safe.”
