Police are still hopeful somebody can add to to the missing woman’s story and have issued a public appeal for information.
Corbacioglu, who was 32 when she vanished, was last seen June 13, 2009, at Bloor St. and Landsdowne Ave.
She was on her way to visit her boyfriend, Riza Cosa, who eventually became a person of interest in Corbacioglu’s disappearance. While dating Corbacioglu, Cosa was still married to another woman — and that woman was found dead.
The wife, Winsome Angela Perez, was murdered, her body stuffed in a bag and dumped in a New York factory where Cosa had once worked.
Cosa fled to his native Turkey. About a year after Corbacioglu vanished, it was reported that he had committed suicide. Authorities in his hometown of Sivas in central Turkey confirmed that Cosa had left a note and jumped off a 10-storey building.

And this is where Corbacioglu’s story also ends, unless someone comes forward with new information.
After she disappeared a decade ago, there was no further activity in Corbacioglu’s bank account or on her phone or social media accounts. Her car was found abandoned at JFK Airport in New York.
At the time, investigators on both sides of the border feared she had met with foul play.
Maybe so, but according to Toronto Police Det. Michael Kelly, of the Missing Person Unit, Corbacioglu’s fate cannot be known for certain. Monday’s public appeal for information is based on the hope that somebody, somewhere knows something and will step up.
“It’s been quite some time since the initial investigation, and we wanted to put it back out there hoping someone will have information,” Kelly said during an interview. “We won’t know what may have happened until we actually find her.”

Kelly described the case as very frustrating, noting that people did everything they could to find Corbacioglu at the time she vanished, but to little avail.
“There were some indications she was in New York. What specifically happened to her, we don’t know.”
Now, police hope sustained media coverage might jog someone’s memory, or inspire somebody who was uncertain or holding back to finally speak up.
Hatice Corbacioglu is described as 5-foot-1, about 130 pounds, with shoulder-length black hair. She had married twice, and was also known as Hatice Donak or Hatice Cakir.
